Support provided to Ukrainian refugees
Internal practice
Duration
Ongoing since February 2022
Reason it was developed
Since the very first days of the war in Ukraine, the ČMOS PŠ organised various activities to support Ukrainian refugees
Activities
Financial assistance A financial collection was organized within the union. A total of 301 000 CZK was raised. This money was transferred to the Ukrainian account of the TUESWU. The TUESWU is an association of education and science workers in Ukraine. This union is a member of ETUCE, as well as the ČMOS PŠ. TUESWU is helping to organise aid and accommodation for people affected by the war, provide IT support for distance learning, provide psychological support and help rebuild schools in regions where the worst damage has occurred. Legal aid The team of lawyers of the CMOS PS has developed a basic information guide for Ukrainian teachers of Ukrainian classes in Czech schools. The handbook contains basic information on the Labour Code and the Teaching Staff Act. The handbook is published on the website of CMOS PS in Czech and Ukrainian languages. Collection of school supplies Local and regional organisations of ČMOS PŠ: KROS South Moravian Region, OOJ Brno and OOJ Brno-venkov organized a collection of school supplies, which were given to Ukrainian children at the J.A. Komenský Primary School on Cacovická Street in Brno. A regional organisation of ČMOS PŠ KROS Olomouc Region organized the distribution of Czech-speaking dolls to Ukrainian preschoolers. The dolls were distributed at registration centres in Olomouc and Šumperk. Helping Ukrainian women psychologists find jobs in Prague ČMOS PŠ helped two Ukrainian psychologists, who had approached the trade union, to find work. The psychologists currently provide support to children in schools in Prague 7 and Prague 9 (Bratří Venclíků Primary School).
